A leak preventing a family from cooking food in a Crown Heights NYCHA apartment may soon be fixed.
As News 12 reported, Sharena McEachern says she has been living with the leak in her Albany Houses apartment for months.
News 12 is told that NYCHA will now send workers to her home to repair the damage.
McEachern says the mold and mildew growing around the leak have prevented her from cooking in her kitchen because she is unsure of what might fall into her food.
"We've been having to eat outside food or I have to cook at someone else's house when I have a perfectly good stove and I can't even cook on it," she says.
She claims to have sent 200 NYCHA service ticket requests about the leak, which she says have been ignored.
NYCHA has not given McEachern and her family a timetable on how long repairs may take because the cause of the leak has yet to be determined.
