Police say a 21-year-old man was fatally shot in Crown Heights and a 37-year-old man is facing multiple charges.
Officers say they received a 911 call for an assault in progress at the Albany Houses on Bergen Street at 12:18 a.m. on Friday.
When they arrived, they say they found 21-year-old Dyseem Jackson with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A few hours later, authorities took a 37-year-old man into custody. That 37-year-old man has been identified as Usamah Sidberry.
Sidberry, a Brooklyn resident, is being charged with murder and two counts of second-degree criminal possession of a firearm.
Authorities say he has a prior manslaughter conviction from 2007 as well as narcotics, and assault chargers from 2004.
Sources close to the investigation have informed News 12 that the shooting incident stemmed from a dispute at a barbecue.
Authorities say Jackson lived one building over from where he was fatally shot.
Police sources at the scene tell News 12 that the shooting took place in the lobby of the building on 1400 Bergen St. However, shell casings and evidence markers were spotted along the sidewalk outside.
A firearm was recovered at the scene.
