A shooting at East 88th Street and Avenue L Friday morning sent a man to the hospital with a bullet wound to the neck.
Witnesses say it sounded like fireworks were exploding, but officials say only one bullet struck the 28-year-old victim.
A blue car parked in the area was riddled with apparent bullet holes. Police say they recovered nine shell casings at the scene.
Police say the man is recovering at Brookdale Hospital.
