A pedestrian was struck and killed at the intersection of Linden Boulevard and Ashford Street in East New York, according to police.
Officials say that the victim, a 36-year-old man, was struck just before 1:30 p.m. while crossing Linden Boulevard. The boulevard was blocked off by officers while the investigation was underway.
City records report that two injuries have happened at this intersection so far in 2024, and that this is the first fatal accident there in 2024. Those records show that this intersection saw 22 injuries last year – and to nearby residents, they say this intersection is no stranger to accidents.
The driver of the vehicle, a 59-year-old man, is currently cooperating with police and there is no criminality suspected at this hour.
