(AP) New York police say an officer has shot a driver who was trying to escape from a traffic stop.
Police say officers were following a vehicle in Brooklyn'sBrownsville neighborhood on Thursday night when they ran its platesthrough their system and discovered it had been stolen.
Police say the officers pulled over the driver, who initiallycomplied. But they say the driver then began crashing into parkedcars and driving toward the officers.
Police say an officer fired a shot and struck the driver, who'sbeen hospitalized.
The driver's condition hasn't been released.
