The NYPD says the number of people being arrested for fare evasions has been on the rise.
Officials say the numbers of straphangers paying the consequence for evading fares on city buses has risen to 72 percent year-to-date. The city boosted their efforts by putting more uniformed and plain-clothed officers to conduct regular checks of all buses across the city.
The MTA says that the Bx19 is one of the worst routes for fare evasion and that they lose millions of dollars each year because of it.
