NYPD stats show overall crime up almost 6% for October compared to last year

The NYPD has released their latest crime statistics, with overall crime up almost 6% citywide from this October to October of 2021. Transit crimes and hate crimes have both seen significant increases, with transit crime up almost 30% last month. 
In South Brooklyn, murders are down 50% this month compared to last year, while transit crime saw a 50% increase in that same time span. North Brooklyn saw rapes increase by over 20% this October compared to October of 2021.
North Brooklyn is seeing a 22% year-to-date increase in crime, and South Brooklyn is seeing an over 30% increase in that same time frame when compared to 2021.
