Officials say an off-duty deputy fire chief and a police officer rescued a man from a burning car on the Belt Parkway over the weekend.
The FDNY says Deputy Chief George Healy was on the Belt Parkway and saw a car fire with smoke and fire from the engine quickly overtaking the car. Healy jumped into action alongside a police officer to pull a man from the back seat.
The victim was taken to NYU Langone Hospital Brooklyn in stable condition.
