2h ago Officials say flames ran through three garages behind a house on East 12th Street in Midwood.
The fire began in one of the garages behind the home and quickly spread to two adjacent garages, according to authorities.
Dozens of firefighters managed to control the flames before it could reach the house, but the garages sustained extensive damage.
The family who lives inside the home was unharmed.
A neighbor tells News 12 that she called 911 when she saw the smoke.
The FDNY and the Department of Buildings are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
