Officials visited the Patterson Houses in Mott Haven Friday to hear out NYCHA residents who say they have heating issues.
The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Regional Director Lynne Patton and Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. were told by residents that temporary boilers have been placed outside of the housing project, some remaining there for years. New boilers were recently installed last week.
NYCHA says that the permanent boilers have been funded, but not installed.
"You don't need a signed consent decree to get something done that's been funded since 2011," says Patton. "We want answers and we're not taking the same old responses anymore."
Those with family living in the Patterson Houses say they need action to be taken.
Patton says the Patterson Houses need to be a priority, as well as looking into where the $2.4 billion she says the HUD gives to NYCHA every year is going.
News 12 reached out to NYCHA for comment. It says work for a new boiler plant is underway and should be completed in the beginning of 2020.
