Parents demanded to know more about what's being done to clean up mold at Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School during a Board of Education meeting Tuesday night.

Connetquot Central School District officials say mold was found at Oakdale-Bohemia Middle School at the end of the summer.

Pictures sent to News 12 from concerned parents show mold on ceiling tiles and folding tables.

School district leaders say excess moisture accumulated in nine classrooms, two hallways, two stairwells and in the cafeteria due to the hot, humid weather.

A letter sent to parents on Aug. 30 stated, "The presence of mold was detected in a variety of locations throughout the building and the district took immediate steps to eradicate the problem."

The district brought in an outside company, JC Broderick, to inspect and conduct testing. In a report at the end of August, the company said they did not find any mold in the air.

The district provided an update Thursday – saying several other areas have also been affected, including closets and storage areas. Superintendent Dr. Lynda G. Adams says a room has also been closed out of an abundance of caution and that additional air quality tests will be conducted, if needed.
