A local organization held a toy giveaway Monday to make sure that struggling families aren't empty-handed this holiday.
Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens gave away toys ranging from board games to Barbie dolls.
The organization gives the gifts to needy families every year during the holidays. This year, the families were invited to come in and shop for the toys themselves.
Parents are also getting $25 or $50 gift cards, thanks to a generous donation from a local nonprofit organization.
Organizers say about 250 families will be getting toys and gift cards this year. They say that's about 600 children who will have a brighter holiday.
