Outage at building to leave tenants without cooking gas on Thanksgiving

<p>Tenants in a Boynton Avenue building say they won't be able to serve Thanksgiving dinner from their own homes because their entire building has been without gas for more than a month.</p>

Tenants in a Boynton Avenue building say they won't be able to serve Thanksgiving dinner from their own homes because their entire building has been without gas for more than a month.
According to a notice by Con Edison, gas to 1135 Boynton Ave. was shut off last month because of an illegal valve operation.
Tenants say what frustrates them more than not having gas is the lack of answers from the building's landlord.
David Sage has owned the building for five years. He says finding the right contractor to fix the problem and acquiring city permits are what led to the delays.
He says he is now working with a licensed plumber to restore the gas.   
"We are putting in new valves and hoses. Gas...we can't fool around with it when they say 'illegal valve,'" he says. 
Sage says he's not sure why his building was slapped with the notice, but says upgrades are being done to bring the building up to code. 
Sage says he intends to reimburse tenants who had to shell out money for hot plates and other electronic devices during the last several weeks living without cooking gas.
