City Councilmember Brad Lander and Assemblymember Robert Carroll say a parent at P.S. 107 in Park Slope has tested positive for the coronavirus.
They say the parent was in the building last Friday. They added that they urged officials to shut the school down for 24 hours for cleaning and sanitizing.

However, they say the Department of Education did not agree with that suggestion. The DOE responded with a statement saying, "We're making decisions in real-time in the best interest of our students and staff, and following guidance from the State and City Health Departments. We're continuing to monitor and our current protocol is to close if there is a confirmed member of the student body or staff."
