Families headed outside in the high heat should be careful when headed to spots like playgrounds during conditions like these.
Many families are heading to places like Loreto Playground in Morris Park on hot days like today. As hot as it feels outside, some of the spots around the playground get even hotter.
In the shade, it may be only 85 degrees, but as you walk out into the sun, across the blacktop, it really starts baking higher and higher. News 12 scanned rubber materials at playgrounds sitting at 144 degrees.
The place you want to head is in the sprinkler, where it is a lot cooler.
