Parents outraged by playground neglect
Outraged parents say a local park is a haven for drug dealers and mentally ill homeless people.
Despite a recent drug arrest, parents say police are mostly neglecting the Homecrest Playground in Sheepshead Bay. They say that there are teens smoking marijuana in the middle of the day and homeless men scaring children while they play.
They say that calls to police garner no results. Parents also say that they started a Facebook page dedicated to saving the park and are meeting with local Councilman Chaim Deutch to demand a stronger police presence in the area.
Deutch says that in the past few weeks, he has arranged for more patrols to be placed close to the park, but parents say they do not see it.
