The Parks Department is planning to add gender neutral bathrooms at Commodore Barry Park.
The addition is part of the city's more than $3 million plan to upgrade the entire comfort station to the park.
The plans, first reported in the Brooklyn Paper, include a new roof, windows and better accessibility. The plan is to have the design completed by next spring.
A representative for the Parks Department said in part, "NYC Parks has and will continue to allow equal access to all our facilities, in accordance with local law. All park-goers are welcome to use the parks' facilities that match their self-identification."
Community Board 2 told News 12 that it would vote on the design of the comfort station's renovations at their general meeting next month.
