Parks Dept. takes action after rat complaints at Carroll Park
The New York City Parks Department is taking action after complaints about an excessive number of rats in Carroll Park.
The city says one of the things it is doing to curb the issue is adding lids to the garbage cans in the park.
The Parks Department says it is also removing trash from the site on a daily basis and increasing the frequency of baiting the little critters.
A Carroll Park frequenter says she sees the rats every year. She's not certain there are actually more rats in the park or just more people making complaints about them.
"I think that maybe we just have a very vocal neighborhood and we want to keep it clean and  we want to keep it nice and we definitely  use this park a lot so it doesn't surprise me that people would actually say something,” she says.
News 12 went to the park today, but there was no sign of rats.
