The NYPD is currently searching for a suspect who shot two people at Claremont Franklin Houses on Thursday afternoon.
The incident happened around 2:30 p.m. across the street from Crotona Park at 1545 Fulton Ave.
Two men, a 39-year-old and 34-year-old, were shot in the courtyard of the building. One was shot in the stomach, while the other was shot in the left leg and back. Both were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital and are expected to survive.
Police say the victim approached them in the courtyard before firing shots. The relation between the suspect and victims is unknown at this time. The suspect fled on foot down Fulton Street.
One neighbor who says he heard the shots says this isn’t new to this area.
"We are in the living room, I hear the three shots and we see the guy with the cap on, running this side all the way down," said neighbor Gilberto Torres. “Everybody's shaken up out there, everybody's scared."
Several other neighbors were visibly upset at the incident that took place.
