A 20-year-old woman is dead after police say she was hit by a car that may have been drag racing.
The driver responsible sped off, according to investigators.
Police say 20-year-old Aniya Blandon was standing near a bus stop when a car jumped the curb. It slammed into her and another man who was standing next to her.
According to police, the driver of the Dodge Charger may have been racing and lost control. They say the vehicle slammed into the pedestrians on the sidewalk and that the man jumped into another car that was driving along with him and sped off.
Vision Zero shows that this is not the first time someone died at the intersection at Eastern Parkway and Utica Avenue.
Vision Zero says at least one other death was reported at the intersection and 20 pedestrian, cyclist or driver injuries within a one block radius since they started.
The second person that was hit is expected to be OK. Police have not released a description of the driver at this time.
