A 77-year-old woman was fatally struck by a car Wednesday night in Gravesend.

Officials say a Chevy Tahoe hit the woman as she was attempting to cross Cropsey Avenue. 

The woman was found by police officers with severe trauma to her head and torso. She was then taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

News 12 is told the driver remained on scene.

So far, no arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.

The identity of the 77-year-old woman has not yet been released.
