Investigators believe a decomposed body found on the roof of a building is that of a missing Coney Island grandmother.
Crucita Alvarado, 74, was last seen on the sidewalk outside her apartment building on West 31st Street and Mermaid Avenue. She suffered from Alzheimer's disease and had been missing since Aug. 12.
Police say the body found was badly decomposed. They are waiting for a formal confirmation of her identification from the medical examiner.
Alvarado would have celebrated her 75th birthday on Sunday.
