A Great Neck woman was trying to “rid her home of evil” when she fatally stabbed a visitor from England inside her home, police say.
Authorities say the unnamed victim was out to lunch Monday afternoon with a friend and Faye Doomchin, 66, of Great Neck. After lunch, they decided to go back to Doomchin’s home.
They say the three were sitting and talking in the living room when Doomchin began speaking about “evil” in her home.
"[Doomchin] made statements that she did not like the woman from England. She claimed that she needed to rid the house of evil. She then appeared from the kitchen with a kitchen knife, walked right over to her and stabbed her in the chest,” said Detective Lt. Stephen Fitzpatrick.
Doomchin is facing a murder in the second-degree charge.
Prosecutors said in court that this wasn’t the first time Doomchin has "plunged a knife into another human being."
According to court records from a 1999 incident, Doomchin used an 8-inch kitchen knife to stab another women twice in the back. That woman survived. According to Doomchin's attorney, she pleaded not guilty by reason of mental defect and was found not responsible.
In court Tuesday, the judge ordered a medical exam and held Doomchin without allowing her to post bail.
