Police set up flares at the intersection of Williamsbridge and Boston roads today, stopping and questioning drivers in an effort to see if anyone had more information on the fatal accident that killed an elderly woman.

According to police, the 70-year-old woman was riding in the backseat of a Mitsubishi sedan being driven by an 86-year-old man. They say the vehicle attempted to make a left turn onto Bronxwood Avenue Tuesday night and slammed into a minivan.

Officials say another passenger in the sedan is in stable condition, along with the 27-year-old driver of the minivan.

No criminality is suspected.
