A man is facing a charge of animal cruelty after police say he violently attacked a cat inside of a Chinese restaurant in Bedford-Stuyvesant.
Police say 28-year-old Salah Zaid is the man seen on surveillance video that has been published by the Daily News. The video shows the man corralling and then attacking the cat, named Nancy.
Officials say Zaid first chased the cat out of a bodega and then into the restaurant down the street, where Zaid allegedly heaved the cat around the room and slammed it against a glass barrier.
Zaid was arrested. The cat was taken to the ASPCA center in Manhattan, but there is no word yet on it's current condition.
News 12 has reached out to the owners of the Chinese restaurant for footage of the attack, but is still awaiting a response
