Police say a man was fatally shot early Sunday morning in Brownsville.
Officers responded to a ShotSpotter alert on Bergen Street just after 1:30 a.m.
When they arrived, they say they discovered a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the face.
He was taken to Brookdale Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, gunshots rang out after a dispute between two groups of men.
Police say the ShotSpotter system uses sound sensors to pick up gunshots and alert police. The technology was installed by the city last spring in 10 Brooklyn precincts with high shooting rates.
No arrests have been made.
This incident comes after five shootings occurred in July in the precinct.
