Police have released surveillance video of a man wanted in connection with a Marine Park home invasion robbery for which two people have already been arrested.
Police say Lance Jyrkinen, 20, and Shirnel Sobers, 25, were apprehended Monday just outside the Brooklyn side of the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel. They were walked out of the special victims unit in Prospect Heights Tuesday afternoon.
Early Monday morning, police say the suspects broke into a home in the area of Madison Place and Avenue R. They allegedly sexually assaulted a 71-year-old woman. A 72-year-old man, who's a retired NYPD member, suffered a facial laceration. News 12 is told that the suspect fled the scene in the couple's blue Honda sedan. Police tracked down the car and two suspects using a license plate reader. The suspects also allegedly stole a gun from the home.
The couple was treated at a hospital.
The arrested suspects face charges of attempted murder, assault, burglary, grand larceny and criminal possession of a weapon.
Police say the third suspect is about 6 feet tall and was last seen wearing a black do-rag and dark clothing.
Sources tell News 12 that the couple fell victim to two burglaries in the past.
Anyone with information can call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS.
