Bronx residents and local police forces took a stand against crime in their neighborhoods as part of this evening?s National Night Out.
The campaign has people all across the country drawing attention to local anti-crime programs, drug prevention and police-community partnerships.
Hundreds took part in the 40th Precinct's event at St. Mary's Park. The event offered food, music and games, while teaching about crime prevention. Police Commisioner Ray Kelly says while crime has dropped by 32 percent in The Bronx since 2001, recent shootings show just how much work needs to be done.
The annual event has been happening for 29 years and is always held on the first Tuesday in August.
