Police are examining the cellphones seized from five teens accused in last week's gang rape of an 18-year-old woman at Osborn Playground in Brownsville.
Investigators say the victim and her father were drinking in the park when the suspects approached them. All of the suspects are between 14 and 17 years old, police say.
One of the teens allegedly pulled a gun and chased the father away.
Authorities say the father tried to find help as the suspects raped the daughter.
Attorneys for the teens say they have a video that proves the sex was consensual. Police have not yet said what they're reviewing on the teens' phones.
"I think as the facts become more evident you'll see this was not a case of rape," says Abdula Greene, an attorney for Ethan Phillip, one of the suspects.
News 12 has obtained a copy of that video but is choosing not to show it on air. It depicts a verbal encounter between the suspects and the victim before the alleged crime.
Phillip's older brother, Billy, has accused the father of both lying about the rape and committing incest with the victim. Police are reportedly investigating those claims.
Some of the defendants in the case are due back in court on Friday.
