Lawmakers gathered in the Bronx today in support of legislation to help local tech start-ups get off the ground.
Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. and others spoke about the bill at the Sunshine Bronx business incubator in Hunts Point.
The federal bill would give the new businesses tax breaks and other boosts. Gillibrand says the bill is about job creation.
?The number one issue all across New York, particularly the Bronx, is jobs,? Gillibrand says. ?We have to be able to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit and economic potential that a lot of these young businesses have.?
The senator hopes to move the legislation forward by the end of the year.
