A new poll shows New Yorkers are divided along racial lines when it comes to their opinion of the NYPD's stop-and-frisk policy.

Fifty-seven percent of white respondents say they approve of stop-and-frisk while only 25 percent of black respondents did, according to the Quinnipiac poll. The approval rate among Hispanic respondents was similar to the white contingent, at 53 percent.

Nearly 87 percent of those stopped on the street last year under the policy were black or Hispanic.
