One of the longest-standing restaurants along Westchester's Sound Shore will be closing at the end of the month.
In a surprising announcement, Mary Ann's Mexican Restaurant in Port Chester said it will not renew its lease, which expires this month after nearly 40 years in business.
They have been a community staple since 1983, known for their take on authentic Mexican food, homemade salsas and margaritas.
Mary Ann's has made local headlines several times over the last few years.
They received money from the Barstool Sports Fund during the height of the pandemic to keep their doors open in January 2021.
And at the end of that same year, News 12 helped them and 13 other neighboring businesses get their power back three months after Hurricane Ida devastated the restaurant.
It's unclear what exactly led to this decision, but a combination of COVID shutdowns, devastation from Hurricane Ida and the current economic climate are likely to have played a role.
