Damaged trees knocked out power lines in Parkchester on Christmas, leaving Bronx residents to celebrate in the dark.
According to Con Ed, the massive blackouts affected more than 1,500 customers in the neighborhood and forced police to direct traffic while street lights were out. Though holiday festivities were temporarily paused, Con Ed crews worked to restore power to the area within hours.
Con Ed says the outage started with damaged trees that knocked out power lines near the Bronx River Parkway.
