Preparations are underway in Brooklyn as the annual SantaCon bar hop kicks off this weekend.

McCarren Park in Williamsburg will be a gathering spot for thousands of people dressed as Santa Claus. From there, they will travel to several bars in Williamsburg and Greenpoint, and elsewhere in the city.

One stop along the Brooklyn route is Viva Toro. Manager Carlos Virgil says police will be present at the bar and throughout the neighborhood to ensure everyone is safe and has a good time.

The SantaCon route has in past years been revealed the day before the event, but organizers disclosed the information days ahead of time to help the community prepare.
