A new investigation found that dozens of registered sex offenders are living in public housing in Brooklyn, even though it's against federal law.

State Sen. Jeffrey Klein and City Councilman Ritchie Torres, a pair of Bronx lawmakers, set up the probe to look into numbers across the city. 

The probe found 110 sex offenders living illegally in public housing throughout the city. Of those, 44 were in Brooklyn.

Records show the Glenmore, Van Dyke and Breukelen houses each hold three convicted sex offenders a piece.

The New York City Housing Authority says it aggressively excludes and evicts offenders when justice and law enforcement agencies alert it to offenders who have listed NYCHA-operated addresses.

But the authority also says that the sex-offender registry is a self-reported system, so the addresses may not all be correct and require further verification -- which could make the investigation's findings inaccurate.
