Prospect Park stroll raises money for disadvantaged
Dozens strolled through Prospect Park Sunday to raise money for Brooklyn adults with special needs and others.
The Brooklyn Bureau of Community Service group organized the fun walk. The group also serves children and families. It has been in existence since 1866 and has 17 sites across the borough."We help people participate fully and productively in the community, people with disabilities such as physical retardation and mental illness," said Assistant Executive Director Norma Martin.
The agency served about 11,000 people last year by providing education, job support and recreational activities.
Last year's fun walk raised $5,000. Organizers believe this year's walk will exceed that amount.
