People are getting ready to take part in the New York City Climate Strike on Friday, Sept. 20.
Organizers say the aim of the strike is to demand that transformative action be taken to address the climate crisis.
Participants worked together to design massive paintings, clothes and banners to display at the event.
The attendees include people from all ages and families.
The Department of Education tweeted that students participating in the strike with parental consent will be excused from classes.

Students say they are glad that the department has shown their support.
“Our administration and our local government recognizes the fact that this is an important and meaningful act of civil disobedience, and they recognize that we aren't just striking to skip school or striking for ourselves, we are striking for adults as well this is an inter-generational movement,” one student says.
Organizers say over 1,000 pieces of art were created.
