A Brownsville elementary school is receiving a donation to help students further their education through robotics.
Students at P.S. 284 will now have the chance to use 12 tablets. The goal is to promote literacy and interactive group work using technology.
The donation comes after Councilwoman Alicka Ampry-Samuel saw the need for increased devices and resources for students.
The Elite Learners Robotics Program gives students a chance to learn new skills, gain an understanding of hot science, engineering and math work together, doing so with hands-on experience.
Program participants build, create and learn how to code. Ampry-Samuel partnered with Brookdale Hospital, which donated the tablets.
