School officials will hold a series of public hearings at low performing schools across New York City to get community feedback on how to improve them.

A new report by the state education department shows 62 schools across the city are either struggling or persistently struggling, with 16 located in Brooklyn.

The 10-day stretch of public hearings, which will begin Monday, is meant to include community feedback on a list of issues as the state Department of Education comes up with ways to restructure the schools.

Under a new law passed earlier this year by Gov. Andrew Cuomo, the schools could be taken over by outside managers if they don't improve within two years, some even sooner.
