One of the shooters involved in Tuesday’s deadly shooting in Jersey City lived in Ohio for two years with his girlfriend, and during that time -- was arrested twice, according to a published report.
The Kent Police Department says David Anderson, 47, was arrested once for domestic violence back in 2009 and served 30 days in jail after pleading guilty to a reduced charge of criminal mischief.
Anderson was then arrested while he was commuting between New Jersey and Ohio. Police were called to his home for a separate domestic violence incident. Police also found he had an outstanding warrant on weapons charges in Jersey City.
Surveillance video shows two shooters, later identified as Anderson and Francine Graham, 51, coming out of a stolen U-Haul they parked across from JC Kosher Supermarket on Martin Luther King Drive, and pointing their guns at people outside the supermarket before storming in.
Three people inside the store were killed immediately. Graham and David were later shot and killed inside the grocery store after a long and intense gun battle with police. According to Jersey City leaders and some investigators, the shooters were motivated by hate.
Jersey City Police Det. Joseph Seals was the first victim. He was shot and killed by the suspects at the Bayview Cemetery about a mile away. New Jersey Attorney General Gurbir Grewal says the two attackers are prime suspects in the death of a man whose body had been found in a car trunk nearby over the weekend. Investigators say it is possible Seals was investigating the two suspects for that crime at the time he was fatally shot.
