The Bronx will be front and center at this year's National Puerto Rican Day Parade in Manhattan.
Hostos Community College President Dr. Felix Matos Rodriguez is the grand marshal for Sunday's festivities along Fifth Avenue. He says he's looking forward to representing the Bronx school as part of this year's theme of "Puerto Ricans in Higher Education."
Parkchester resident Matos Roman will also share in the spotlight as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award. She's volunteered with the parade since the 1970s, helping to take it to the national level in the 1990s.
For anyone who can't make it to the parade, organizers are also hosting a free outdoor festival and domino tournament at Roberto Clemente State Park on Saturday.
