Putnam Ave. dead toddler identified
Medical examiners are conducting tests on the Bedford-Stuyvesant toddler found covered in blood and dead in the arms of her mother.
The little girl was identified as Cathryn-Marie Newegbo.
Area workers reported that surveillance videos from a nearby bodega and restaurant showed Newegbo's mother holding her daughter while walking back to their home early Friday morning.
A short while later police found the toddler bleeding in her mother's arms in their Putnam Avenue apartment.
Police had been dispatched to the building after a 911 call about a person on the roof.
A trail of blood led responding officers from the roof to the Newegbo's apartment.
Police reported that the toddler's mother is currently undergoing psychiatric evaluation.
