Students at P.S. 21 were back on the playground Tuesday following a rash of shootings that forced the principal to cancel recess.

Principal Harold Anderson did away with recess in early December after four shootings near the school. One incident on November 28 involved police running through the school's playground with their guns drawn in pursuit of a shooting suspect. Lisa Sanders, a parent coordinator at the school, says that day was pure havoc with people running all over the place to take cover.

Parents complained about the lack of police patrols at the school following the shootings. Now, the principal says police are a regular sight at the school, which is why he felt it was safe to bring back recess.
