Longtime Congressman Charles Rangel fought off challengers in the Democratic primary Tuesday, barely holding on to his District 13 seat.
The 82-year-old defeated state Sen. Adriano Espaillat by just under 2,000 votes. His incumbency has lasted since 1970, making him a favorite to win the general election.
In the redrawn 16th Congressional District, incumbent Democrat Eliot Engel won by a landslide over Aniello Grimaldi.
In the final Bronx race, Republican Wendy Long won a three-way primary for U.S. Senate. She beat out George Maragos and Rep. Bob Turner and will face incumbent Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand in November.
