A report released Tuesday found Brooklyn residents would be vulnerable if a hurricane were to hit the borough.Congressman Anthony Weiner (D-9th District) says the plan to evacuate people living in neighborhoods like Coney Island, Brighton Beach and Sea Gate needs to be improved. The other problem is funding. Weiner says all federal funding to New York City to build jetties has been discontinued. He says Brooklyn needs to be prepared for the worst and its beaches are its first line of defense against a big storm. Local leaders say the federal government has to realize it is better to fund projects now and be prepared for the worst, instead of paying later when the damage is already done.
