New Jersey is in danger of losing its state bird, the Eastern goldfinch, during the summer due to climate change, according to an environmental report.
The
report by the National Audubon Society says because summers in the state are getting too hot for the bird, it may be forced to change its migration patterns.
Due to a projected global temperature increase of 3 degrees Celsius, the goldfinch could lose up to 100 percent of its summer range.
The goldfinch was designated the official state bird back in 1935.
It’s one of almost 400 bird species threatened by climate change.
