Fewer people are filing formal complaints against the NYPD when it comes to its controversial stop-and-frisk practice, according to a new report from the Civilian Complaint Review Board (CCRB).
The report found that in 2011 there were just over 1,700 stop-and-frisk complaints, a 10-percent drop from 2010.
At the same time, the board says documented street encounters increased about 14 percent to an all-time high of more than 685,000.
The CCRB is an independent city agency that has the power to investigate alleged police misconduct and make recommendations to NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.
