The addition of a new off-ramp for the Manhattan Bridge has residents living near the Brooklyn end fuming, they say.
Area residents say the change has led to a huge increase in traffic that includes speeding cars, big trucks and potential for crashes on the once-quiet Concord Street.
Community Board 2 and the Department of Transportation approved opening a new off-ramp for bridge traffic about two months ago without warning residents, critics say.
Residents are also pointing to pedestrian safety as an issue. There are several schools on the narrow street.
The community board will hold a public meeting for concerned residents Tuesday evening.
DOT officials say the board had requested the additional off-ramp to help alleviate overall traffic in the neighborhood.
