The city has largely dug out from the snow left behind after Wednesday's nor'easter, although a few puddles and piles of dirty snow or slush remain.
The storm dropped between 2 and 4 inches of heavy snow across parts of the Brooklyn. Between ice melt, plows and warmer weather, most of it was gone by Thursday afternoon.
City sanitation workers cleared snow through the night as the nor'easter moved out of the area. Residents cleaned up their sidewalks and cleared snow from their cars.
Then people hit the streets Thursday to enjoy the fresh air and calmer weather.
"Yesterday I didn't go out -- I felt like I was incarcerated basically," says Ralph Roman, of Bensonhurst. "I'm happy to go out see how the area is, and I see that the roads are clear. They did a very good job in the neighborhood."
A lot of Brooklyn drivers brought their vehicles to car washes, too. They say they want to clean off road salt, which can cause damage to cars if left in place.
"When the salt goes all over your car, the paint starts to wear off," says Michael Shkolnikov.
In fact, workers at the car wash on Neptune Avenue say their business usually doubles after snowstorms.
