Residents divided over Cobble Hill Park fences
Fences that were put up at Cobble Hill Park are sparking a dispute in the neighborhood.
Some neighbors have started a petition to try and get the fences removed because they want access to the grounds. Others, however, say while the fences might be unsightly, they actually do serve a purpose.
Chip McInhill says the reason the fences were installed was because people were trampling the plants, which cost a few hundred dollars to the Cobble Hill Association.
The Parks Department has worked with the association for 30 years to protect planting areas.
"Being that it's a brownstone area, you could certainly make the argument for the iron-cast fences or something," McInhill says.
The Parks Department and Cobble Hill Association are inviting anyone to air grievances at any community board meeting.
